Welcome to Gittisham Folk Dance Club

Back on Wednesday November 3rd

Dear fellow dancers,

We are very pleased to announce that dancing has resumed on Wednesday evenings from 8pm.

As you will be aware, we have a duty of care to all who attend, and the committee has thought about this very carefully as we are participating in what is known as a close proximity activity.  We have conducted a risk assessment, the result of which is that at this time, for the reassurance of our fellow dancers, callers and band members, we ask that everyone who attends is doubly vaccinated (unless medically exempt).  Hand gel will be available at the door and elsewhere in the hall, and a window and door will be left open.  We would also ask you not to attend if you are feeling unwell.  If you have any questions, or wish to raise any concerns, please let us know.

Tea, coffee, biscuits and bananas will continue to be served at the interval, courtesy of the fabulous Elaine, but please feel free to bring your own refreshments if you prefer.

As mentioned in an earlier email when we thought we would be starting in September, for those of you who paid your membership subscription in early 2020 there will be nothing more to pay until 2022, and our weekly charge will remain the same – £4 for members and £4.50 for non-members.

With warm regards from the Gittisham Folk Dancing Committee

Gittisham Folk Dance Club meets weekly in a small East Devon village about 4 miles from Honiton. It’s a very active club with a great bunch of friendly dancers and makes a point of welcoming new attendees. It almost always features live music from a good variety of local bands and callers. All our Wednesday night dances are now held in Gittisham at their Village Hall.

Those new to dancing are particularly welcome. Perhaps come along a bit earlier than 8 pm, when we will do our best to teach beginners some of the basic moves for the 30 minutes or so prior to the dance proper.

So, if you are experienced, just beginning or re-discovering folk dancing – come along on any night, you are ensured of a warm welcome and enjoyable evening at the best folk dance club in East Devon!
